This was more of a 3.5 for me. I enjoyed it, and I liked the mystery to the plot and how it unfolded. However I thought it was a bit of a slow burner for me. It didn't lack adventure, and the stages between the characters was more realistic than other books were there's insta lust or insta love. It was slow and well developed. But it did take me about 2/3rds through the book before I got excited about it. I can't put my finger on why...
I really thought that the almost-paranormal twist was interesting. I wasn't expecting that from this book.
Overall, I liked the characters, even though Lilac annoyed me at first. And I will be reading the second book, which I do believe is more of a companion novel.
Would recommend it.
